Gateway Laptop M Series

The M series of laptops was released by Gateway in July 2007. I know that three years in computer time means a lot and that technology develops very fast these days, but this series of laptops is still pretty good to use, offering good features and performance for an affordable price. This multimedia laptop series is meant to be used for entertainment purposes and to offer incredible pictures and sound quality for those who want to watch movies at home or on the go. Even if the features of the M series laptops from Gateway are no dobut pretty good and offer a high quality experience in entertainment , I must tell you these laptops are not meant for gaming, but for watching movies and listening to music or whatever other activities you might enjoy doing in your free time. Of course they can handle games, but they are not designed with this purpose, so they don't offer the speed and resolution addicted gamers request.

Gateway laptops M series offer multimedia performance in a sleek, stylish design. They use Intel technology for offering high quality functionality from the processor, graphics card and also wireless LAN. These laptops have quite a lot of RAM capacity and also large hard drives that allow them to store information like the large files of the video or movies people will enjoy watching and also the large memory will provide the speed of the computer and the advantage of running multiple applications at the same time without freezing your laptop and having to restart it.

The screen is only 15.4 inch, not an ideal size for movie lovers, but it somehow offers a compromise between high quality display and portability because these laptops were not meant to sit on the desk offering support only for watching movies, but they were made to be portable devices used for all kinds of purposes besides this one.

Laptops belonging to this series are multimedia experts as they provide HD connectivity, HDMI outputs and optional ATI graphics. You also benefit from Blu-ray or DVD optical drives that allow you to store information on portable media. What's characteristic for these laptops is the presence of the precision-touch multimedia control panel that is situated just above the keyboard, coloured in a brushed metal , with a futuristic design of toothlike indentures. The buttons there react to smooth touch and you can use them to have easy access and control the Media Player files and also control the volume.

The integrated 1.3-megapixel camera can be used for video chatting and organizing video conference and also for snapshots for taking photos or recording short videos. The 3 USB ports, the 5-in-1 card reader and all the other ports allow communication and other devices to plug in for an easier connectivity. The six cell Lithium ion battery offers four good hours of independent use for your laptop and the six pounds weight is perfect for its portability. These laptops used to be sold for sums between $800-1200 but now probably you will be able to purchase them for a lot less due to the economical crisis and also the fact that they are getting old by now.

I have seen two of these M-Series notebooks dead so far. One with power but no video, and the other would power on for less than 2 seconds then shut off. Has anyone else experienced this problem? How did you resolve it?
