But because they are smaller and smaller these days, their screens also have small dimensions and they are not very fit for enjoying a movie or wathing a slide show of your photos with family members and friends when you are no longer on the go.
Well, it is possible to connect the Gateway laptop to your TV set or to an external monitor. But TV screens are usually a lot bigger than laptops and there is also the possibility to connect to it pretty easily. All laptops have S-video outputs for being connected to an external monitor or to a TV.
Just insert a S-video cable there and you will have your video connection. But this is usually not that clear and good. But you can also use a VGA cable inserted in the VGA output, as most modern and new television sets have such an input these days, so this connection is easier and provides a higher quality of the picture and sound. You can find such a cable in any electronics store and it is sold for a very affordable price.
However, there is onemore possibility to connect your Gateway laptop to your tv thanks to the fast advances of technology: DVI cable to DVI port (some new tv models have such an output) or even DVI to HDMI cable, a kind of adapter from the DVI to HDMi port.
There are still some things that need to be specified for a good connectivity. First you have to change the resolution of the display, as the laptop screen is a lot smaller than most TV screens, so adjust it from the Control Panel, display settings, resolution. Just choose the highest resolution for a better view and enjoy. Depending on the kind of cable and connectivity you use to link the two devices together , you will have to choose the right channel on your TV remote control: EXT 1, 2 or AV.
Sometimes the connection still does not work until you go into your laptop’s settings and click the second monitor from the external signal and this way you choose where you want the image displayed – on the main or second monitor – that is the TV.
After all the preparation is done all you have to do is enjoy the pleasant experience of sharing some very nice memories or movies together with your loved ones and also don’t forget to reverse all the settings changes that you have made after you return on your laptop because otherwise it would be difficult for you to watch anything there.
